Mayhem 27 March gaming event - post event review

Mayhem 27 March 2010 Gaming event.
Yet an other awesome event. We were expecting a rather different turn
out, but were pleasantly surprized. Thank you to all who made it.

PC gaming:
Seems we are getting closer and closer to the release of
starcraft 2. Blizzard are running a closed beta. Players can
register as beta testers and get a beta copy of the game.
At this stage the game only has single player but we should
be seeing a multiplayer beta very soon, which mean we might
be seeing the game in stores by the end of the year.
Serious Sam
Titles for the day: Call of Duty 4, Warcraft
3, DOTA 5, Left for Dead, Demi God, UT 2004, Starcraft, Counter
Strike Source, Quake 3, COD5, Borderlands, Starcraft 2 (closed Beta),
Serious Sam.

Magic the Gathering:
Vampires and game reset decks were the flavour of the day.
If you had a land you used it while still had it. Magic at this
event was very fun to watch but frustrating to play.
Warhammer 40K:
The 750 point army madness continues... Eldar, imerial
guard and black templars back for more with chaos space
marines and nids joining in. Chaos space marine using
a lash and splash combo was very effective even in a small
points game. The chaos space marine command uses a spell
to move the emeny into the open and bunch them up, so
that tanks bomb them . Strongest army on the day.. Nids.
Board Games:
We are started off at about midday with game of ticket to ride,
where players have to build a railway line. In some ways the game
is similar to monopoly but a bit more fun, and no where near as
long. Do yourself a favour and give it a go next time you come
through.
Settlers... Wow we had a lot of fun. You really have to have a
go at playing settlers. Lots of trade as well as snookering players.
Just try not snooker the players you stuff from too much.
