Mayhem 23 January 2010 Gaming event.

So where do we start? Seeing as the event was two day early we should still be able to say Happy Winter-Een_mas!

It felt like ages since the last event and in fact it was,close on two months. So huge amounts of withdrawal and missing old friends. Great to see a few of the old boys could drag themselves away from the Mrs for a day and join us. It was lovely to the ladies join in again. Hoping that the girls will come through for the next event as well. We had a very good turnout despite the rain turning the parking lot into a swamp.

We had a really good laugh at a few of the gamers so here come some funnies:
You know when you are really tired and you are sort of walking around an event on auto pilot? Well we had one of those gamers at the event. He was walking to the bathroom in a bit of a day dream when two of his friends (not sure if I can call them friends) decided to scare the crap out of him. Needless to say it was as funny as hell to watch him rejoin the rest of us and jump out of his skin at teh same time. The funniest part was he got such a fright he ran straight past Pi_Guy into the toilet with a real sense of urgency. Wonder if he wet himself?

Really blonde moment: Now we did gice our word to NVS that we would not use her name in this one, we are going try our best not to.
So a group of gamers get robbed over the holidays and the theives cut all the cables and leave with the PC's. So all new, cool looking PC's, but they still have the old keyboard and mouse which had the connectors cut off by the robbers. (You can kinda see where this is going, well at least the rest of us can). So the unnamed NVS is packing her stuff for the event and packs in a keyboard. Needless to say when she arrived at Mayhem the keyboard she had packed was the one that had the connector cut off. We formed a small group to help rub it in.


Hahahaha, so how are you planning on plugging that in?	This is what happens when you hide from the camera. We did up the worst pic we can find.

PC gaming:

Yes, Yes we know... It is old and ugly, but we had fun. So some of us got together and decided we would like to do some Unreal one co-op. It was a delightfull trip through the years past. The game has been rereleased on steam and looks stunning. Well about as stunning as a game which came out in 1997 could look.

We had some Quake, saw a few gamers playing COD 4, we are working on some ideas for getting COD MW2 running at the event, but this is still a bit of a pipe dream.

Titles for the day: Call of Duty 4, Warcraft 3, DOTA 5, Left for Dead, Demi God, UT 2004, Starcraft, Counter Strike Source, Quake 3, COD5, Borderlands, Streetfighter 4, torchlite.

Console Gaming:

Right of course there was a Wii running some house of the dead and resident evil. What can we say gamer just love sorting out the infected. There was a small croud around the console running street fighter. There was the new darksiders game on xbox and PS3, so we got to have a good over all look at the game. It seems a lot of fun, it is on vapour's too buy list. We had a small incident where Fanaticit really wanted to play some more darksiders on the xbox, but NOooo two little girls got there first. Needless to say they did a great job of high jacking that console.

Titles for the day: DOA(PS2),Burn out 3(PS2), guitar hero 5(PS2), House of the dead overkill (Wii), resident evil umbrella chronicles(Wii), darksiders (Xbox), Street fighter (Xbox), Gutar hero (xbox), Dark siders (PS3), Little big world (PS3), Wonder boy(Wii), Super Mario (Wii), Bomber man(Wii).

Magic the Gathering:

Lots of new decks, seems players have been busy building over the holidays and putting new plans into action. One or two new life gain decks were seen on the day, abd they needed a serious case of beat down. One of the games saw a truely disgusting LD (land destruction ) combo. Two players both playing a LD type deck working as a team. The players also played a new game type where each player has two other players they have to save. this however does not mean they have to save you. Which leads to some very interesting tactics.

Board Games:

We have an awesome round of Risk 2010. A hand full of gamers going to war over who would control the world. Seems the way to control the world is to take over the moon. We also had some players playing ticket to ride. A game where players have to get and maintain control over a train line. Sounds a biot dull, but stacks of fun oncde you start playing it. If you have not yet given the board games a try yet, then you absolutely must at the next event.
